Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – A two- day long Strategic Planning Workshop 2012 of Bangladesh Bank (BB) has been inaugurated by BB Governor Atiur Rahman at BRAC CDM, Savar in Dhaka on Friday with its main theme of strengthening leadership.

All the officials in the rank of general manager and above are attending the workshop, a BB press statement said.

BB Deputy GovernorAbul Qasem, Executive Director of the central bank Ahsan Ullah, Senior advisor of the BB Allah Malik Kazemi, Senior Economic advisor to the BB governor Hasan Zaman, former Deputy Governor of the central bank Khondokar Ibrahim Khaled and Bank Supervision Expert from IMF Glenn Tasky were present in the workshop and addressed in the session as well.

The workshop has reviewed the status of achievements of the strategies and action plans adopted in the last year’s workshop.

The central bank chief emphasized on the role of leaders in directing the organization towards its ultimate goal.

He also reiterated the need for adequate communication skills for the leaders in order to disseminate the complex economic information to the stakeholders.

The governor expressed his optimism that the high officials of the central bank will take the leadership to lead the economy for the betterment of the nation.

The functions of the Bangladesh Bank were grouped in 10 different groups who made the presentations on the achievements and challenges of their related departments since the last workshop in 2010.

The workshop is coordinated by Jahangir Kabir, Managing Director of Insights & Ideas.
