Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The depreciating mood of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against US dollar continued in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market during evening trading on Sunday.
The US dollar was BDT 78.75 in the evening market.
The US dollar was quoted at BDT 78.74-BDT 78.75 in the morning which was unchanged from the previous level.
“The depreciating mood of the BDT persisted throughout the day due to rising demand of the US dollar in the market,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka.
The local currency depreciated nearly six paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Thursday due to higher demand for the greenback in the market for settling import payment obligations.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.6256 on Thursday from 79.5683 of the previous day.
It was BDT 79.5212 on Tuesday.
