BDT returns to depreciating mood against US$

Last updated: January 10, 2017

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The exchange rate of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) returned to depreciating mood against the US currency in the evening transactions on Tuesday in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market.
The US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 78.70-78.76 in the morning trading against BDT 78.70 of the previous working day and the rate remained the same during the evening transactions.
“The local currency returned to depreciating mood as the supply of the greenback was less than its demand as well as the increase of the import payment obligations,” a senior treasury official of a commercial bank told the BBN Tuesday evening in Dhaka.
The present depreciating mood may continue in the next couple of days, the treasury official added.
