BEIJING, China (BBN) – Evgeni Viktorovich Plushenk, Russia’s four-time figure skating Olympic medalist, said in Beijing on Friday that he believes Beijing will make a great Olympic Games in 2022.
In the wake of Beijing’s win on Friday in the bid to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, Plushenk, who is in Beijing to cheer for the city’s bid, said, “It’s great you have a very great summer Olympic Games in 2008. For sure, I know you will make a great Winter Olympic Games in 2022.”
“It’s a big success for China, a big country. For people, especially for kids.
“So I would like to be here as a guest. Olympic Games is for future, for kids and for the new generation.
“I watched the 1994 Olympic Games on TV that time. I would like to get in. So I think it’s very good for kids, for the new athletes to see their home country holding Olympic Games,” added the 35-year-old.
Plushenko is a four-time Olympic medalist, including two golds in 2006, 2014 and two silvers in 2002, 2010.
