Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- An agreement has been signed to appoint 60 counsellors with a view to remove labor unrest in the Export Processing Zones(EPZs) under the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority(BEPZA).
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between BEPZA and IFC BICF World Bank on Wednesday, a BEPZA press statement in the capital, Dhaka on Thursday.
Under the MoU, the counsellors will work initially for one year with BEPZA.
The counsellors worked under a project financed by the International Development Association (IDA), the World Bank’s concessionary lending arm, from 2005 to 2009. The project has been completed on June 30 this year.
The BEPZA is an agency of the Bangladesh government. Its objective is to manage different export processing zones in the South Asian country.
