Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The Bangladesh House Building Finance Corporation (BHBFC) has decided to increase the ceiling of its housing loan in Dhaka and Chittagong metropolitan areas from BDT 5.0 million to BDT 6.0 million due to a rise in construction costs.
The board of directors of the BHBFC have taken the decision recently and sent a proposal to bank and financial institution department of the finance ministry for approval, BHBFC officials said.
The BHBFC earlier increased the loan ceiling to BDT 5.0 million from BDT 4.0 million on June 16, 2010 on the same ground.
It has already sought BDT 2.0 billion fund from the Bangladesh Bank in this connection, they added.
The state-run BHBFC has so far disbursed BDT 42.0024 billion in loan for construction of houses.
