Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Bhutanese King Jigme Khesar Namgyal Wangchuck arrives in the capital Dhaka on Thursday on a five-day state visit to Bangladesh, officials said.
President Zillur Rahman will receive the Bhutanese King at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at about 12.10 pm 9local time).
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will call on the King of Bhutan at Hotel Sonargaon on Friday while the President will host a state banquet in  honour of the King at Bangabhaban on Sunday.
Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Commerce Minister Faruk Khan, Foreign Minister Dipu Moni and PM’s Adviser Gowher Rizvi will call on King Wangchuk on Thursday.
The Bhutanese king will join a state banquet and dinner to be hosted by the president and the prime minister respectively, they added.
Wangchuck will visit the National Memorial at Savar to pay homage to the martyrs of the War of Liberation in 1971.
He will also visit Bangabandhu Memorial Museum, the Rayer Bazar Mass Grave Monument and the Liberation War Museum. The Bhutanese King will also visit Dharmarajik Boudhha Bihar in the city and enjoy a river cruise.
Wangchuck will witness the children’s parade on the Independence and National Day on March 26 at Bangabandhu National Stadium in Dhaka. He will also join the Independence Day reception to be hosted by the president.
Earlier, Bhutanese Prime Minister Jigmi Y. Thinley visited Bangladesh from January 10-14 this year.
