Last updated: December 28, 2011

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Biman Bangladesh Airlines, the national flag carrier, has decided to suspend its flight on Chittagong- Bangkok route from January 1, 2012.

The Biman introduced Dhaka-Chittagong-Bangkok-Chittagong- Dhaka flight with a Boeing-737 aircraft on March 27 this year.

In last nine months, the 162-seater plane carried 46 passengers on Chittagong-Bangkok route and 44 passengers on Bangkok-Chittagong route on every flight on an average by operating two flights a week, a Biman press statement said on Wednesday.

It is not viable to continue this flight with so small number of passengers, the statement said, expressing the hope that the flight would be reintroduced in future, if the Biman gets comparatively small aircrafts and the number of passengers rises.
