Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal has expressed her hope that relations between Bangladesh and the United States would see a new height during the tenure of new Bangladesh ambassador.

"Based on the already strong bond that has been achieved over the years, the bilateral ties between the two friendly nations would see a new height during the tenure of Ambassador Mohammad Ziauddin," she said.

Biswal came up with the optimism when Ambassador Ziauddin paid a courtesy call on her at the US State Department in Washington DC on Wednesday, according to a message received in the capital Dhaka on Friday.

The meeting, held in a very candid and friendly atmosphere, discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interests.

On his arrival at the US State Department, Biswal warmly welcomed the newly appointed Bangladesh envoy.

Ambassador Ziauddin thanked the US Assistant Secretary as well as the US government for their warm and cordial gesture.
