Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– A 45-member delegation of Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) left the capital Dhaka on Sunday to attend the ‘London Garments Expo 2013’.
The delegation, headed by BKMEA first vice president Md Hatem, aims at increasing export of Bangladesh’s knit products as well as attracting investors of Britain to the local apparel industry.
The three-day-long London Garments Expo 2013 will start on Monday, a BKMEA press statement said.
During the expo the BKMEA team members will meet the businessmen of London. 
Britain is one of the big apparel importers of Europe. EU-27 imports knit products worth US$ 76 billion per year which is 9.5 per cent of the total imports worldwide.
 
Of this Britain imports knit items worth $ 1.2 billion from Bangladesh out of its total import worth $ 11 billion from across the globe.
BKMEA is participating in the London Garments Expo 2013 as part of its market expansion program.
