Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia is leading the party’s second road march towards Chapainawabganj from the capital Dhaka on Tuesday to drum up public support in favour of the demand for holding next general election under non-party caretaker government.
Opposition leader Khaleda Zia formally led the two-day caravan from near the House Building office at Uttara in the capital at 10:50 am after starting from her Gulshan residence at about 10:20 am (local time).
More than thousand of vehicles carried more than 10,000 members of the four-party alliances from the capital. Several vehicles were also seen joining the motorcade from different points of the city, according to reports.
The enthusiastic crowd, carrying banners and festoons and portraits of late President Ziaur Rahman, Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman, chanted slogans and clapped to welcome the road march.
BNP chairperson will first address a wayside meeting at Kailakor in Gazipur district. She is also scheduled to address three more wayside meetings while leading the road march that will pass through the districts of Tangail, Sirajganj, Bogra and Naogaon before terminating in Chapaiganj.
The opposition leader will address her first public meeting at Altafunnssa High School ground in Bogra on Tuesday and stay the overnight in the country’s northern Bogra district town.
