Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to visit India and China soon to discuss bilateral issues and also the next general election of Bangladesh.
Dates of the trips are yet to be finalized but they may happen next month. At the moment, the party is making primary preparations for both the visits, The Daily Star, a local news papers reported quoting party insiders.
The main opposition party is trying to mobilize support from the international community to compel the government to introduce a nonparty neutral government to oversee the next parliamentary polls, according to the newspaper reports.
BNP sources said they discussed the party chairperson’s possible visit to India on the Indian government’s invitation. They, however, would not comment on the outcome of the discussions.
Asked about the India trip, which may come before the one to China, BNP Vice-chairman Shamser Mobin Chowdhury told the newspaper on Thursday, “If there is any development, you will be informed.”
