Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Opposition leader and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairperson Khaleda Zia on Saturday gave the government 48 hours to announce the restoration of the caretaker government system, threatening of tough agitation “which will force the government to quit”.
The BNP chief also termed the prime minister’s call for a dialogue as a drama aimed at diverting people’s attention from workers’ movement following Savar tragedy.
She also alleged that the government did not launch the rescue operation timely to pull the survivors from the debris of the building.
Khaleda said these while addressing a rally of BNP-led 18-party opposition alliance in Shapla Chattar of the capital’s Motijheel.
She also urged the government to recover the money misappropriated through Hall-Mark, Destiny, Share Market, Padma bridge project and other scams and spend those on the rescue operation.
The venue turned into a human sea as thousands of people poured into the area to join the rally that began around 2:10pm.
Thousands of supporters and activists of the 18-party alliance started to converge at the venue since morning.
