Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed who remained missing since March 10 was traced on Tuesday after his conversation with his wife, Hasina Ahmed.
Salahuddin talked with his wife over phone from the National Institute of Mental Health and Neuro Sciences hospital at Shillong in Meghalaya of Assam, said the BNP leader’s wife during a press briefing at her Gulshan residence Tuesday afternoon.
During the briefing, Hasina said she also talked with the NIMHANS hospital authorities.
Hasina said she got a call from the hospital authorities saying that her husband wants to talk with her.
“They later connected me to him and I talked with my husband,” she said.
“I am alive for the blessings from all of you,” Salahuddin said during the conversation.
The BNP’s Joint Secretary General also said his physical condition is well and he will return home soon.
Why the BNP Joint Secretary General Salahuddin had remained traceless for so long and how he reached in the hospital could not be known immediately.
The BNP leader had remained missing since March 10.
His family claimed that plainclothes police picked him up from his Uttara residence in the capital Dhaka.
Earlier on March 22, police launched a massive search at different parts of Fulchhari upazila in Gaibandha to trace Salahuddin.
Inspector General of Police AKM Shahidul Hoque on March 13 claimed that none of the law enforcement agencies had arrested Salahuddin.
On the same day, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia alleged that law enforcers picked up Salahuddin but they have been denying the fact.
