Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has decided to hold a two-day demonstration across the country protesting the fresh hike in fuel prices.
The party’s national standing committee at a meeting in the party chairperson’s office at Gulshan in Dhaka on Sunday decided to hold the program on November 15, in Dhaka, and on November 16, across the country, The New Age, a local newspaper, reported quoting party insiders.
The party chief, Khaleda Zia, presided over the meeting that began at 8:15pm in her office and it continued after 11:00pm (local time).
It reviewed the latest political situation at the meeting and said that the fuel oil rice increase had only added to the sufferings of the people.
The party chairperson’s press secretary Maruf Kamal Khan said that the acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir would brief newsmen on the decision of the meeting Monday.
