Last updated: November 22, 2011

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The main opposition Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has urged the Election Commission (EC) not to impose the electronic voting machine (EVM) system in the upcoming Comilla City Corporation (CCC) elections.

The BNP on Tuesday submitted a letter to the EC in this connection and also demanded army deployment to ensure free and fair polls scheduled to be held on January 5 this year.

A two-member delegation of the party submitted the letter to the EC secretariat office in the capital Dhaka, according to reports.

The EC has decided to use the Electronic Voting Machines in all 27 wards of the city corporation.
