Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The Ministry of Finance (MoF) has formed a six-member committee to formulate a ‘special scheme’ for affected small stock investors. The committee has been given two-month time for the purpose.

The managing director of Investment Corporation of Bangladesh (ICB) Md Fayekuzzaman has been made convener of the committee, a MoF notification said on Monday.

The committee members will propose measures on how to protect the interest of already affected small investors and those incurred financial loss in the capital market for taking margin loan, it added.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Professor M Khairul Hossain at a media briefing on November 22 last announced to form a committee for small investors.

Other members of the committee are—managing director of Central Depository Bangladesh Limited, Md Saifur Rahman, Executive Director of the SEC, Md Newaz Hossain Chowdhury, Senior Assistant Secretary, Banking and Financial Institution Division of the MoF, Chief Executive Officers of the Dhaka Stock Exchange and Chittagong Stock Exchange.
