Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- BRAC Bank dominated week’s turnover chart of the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) last week that ended on Thursday as investors were active on its shares.
Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stood at nearly BDT nearly 47 billion on the DSE, which was more than 30 percent higher than the week before.
The most active shares in terms of value included BRAC Bank, City Bank, Dhaka Bank, Grameenphone, AB Bank, Square Pharmaceuticals, Shahjalal Islami Bank, LankaBangla Finance, IFAD Autos and IDLC Finance.
According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 16.14 million shares of BRAC Bank were traded, generating a turnover of BDT 1.76 billion during the week. It was 3.76 percent of the week’s total turnover.
The daily average turnover of the company was BDT 352 million.
The bank’s share price closed at BDT 108.10 on Thursday, the last trading day of the week, advancing 1.03 percent over the previous week.
The bank, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2007, disbursed 10 per cent cash and 20 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on December 31, 2016. In 2015, the bank disbursed 25 per cent cash dividend.
The bank’s paid-up capital is BDT 8.55 million and authorised capital is BDT 12 billion, while the total number of securities is 855.20 million.
Sponsor-directors own 44.44 per cent stake in the bank, while institutional investors own 8.24 percent, foreign 41.43 percent and the general public 5.89 percent as on October 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.
The bank’s consolidated earnings per share (EPS) stood at BDT 1.76 for July-September, 2017 as against BDT 1.03 for July-September, 2016.
In nine months for January-September period of 2017, consolidated EPS was BDT 4.42 for January-September, 2017 as against BDT 3.02 for January-September, 2016.
The consolidated net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) was BDT 13.74 for January-September, 2017 as against BDT 15.14 for January-September, 2016. Consolidated net asset value (NAV) per share was BDT 29.64 as on September 30, 2017 and BDT 29.61 as on September 30, 2016.

BRACK Bank was, closely followed City Bank, with shares of BDT 1.65 billion changing hands, followed by Dhaka Bank BDT 1.53 billion, Grameenphone BDT 1.50 billion, AB Bank BDT 1.49 billion and Square Pharmaceuticals BDT 1.40 billion.
Shahjalal Islami Bank was also included in the week’s top turnover chart with shares of BDT 1.31 billion changing hands, followed by LankaBangla BDT 1.13 billion, IFAD Autos BDT 1.04 billion and IDLC Finance BDT 976 million.
