Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – British Minister for Security and Counter-Terrorism Lord West will arrive in Bangladesh Saturday on a three-day visit.

Lord West is visiting Bangladesh to attend a United Kingdom (UK)-Bangladesh Joint Working Group (JWG) that will enhance counter terrorism cooperation between the two countries, a British High Commission announcement said in the capital, Dhaka on Friday.

The visit follows the announcement by former British home secretary Jacqui Smith during her visit to Bangladesh in April 2008 that the UK and Bangladesh would form a “Joint Working Group” to implement closer anti-terrorism operations.

During his first official visit, Lord West will call on the Prime Minister, other high officials of the government, the leader of the opposition and civil society representatives, the annulment added.

The UK minister will also visit a school that is part of the British Council’s connecting classrooms program. By linking schools in the UK with schools in Bangladesh connecting classrooms helps young people prepare for life and work in a globally inter-connected world and encourage them to play an active role in their communities.
