Bangladesh to procure 200 AC buses

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The state-run transport service provider BRTC will import 200 AC, 400 non-AC buses and 500 trucks under Indian Line of Credit (LOC).

“Procurement process for bringing 400 buses and 500 trucks is at final stage under the LOC,” Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader disclosed this, while replying to a starred question from opposition bench member Selim Uddin of Sylhet-5 in the Jatiya Sangsad on Sunday.

The minister said Bangladesh Road Transport Corporation (BRTC) would float a tender for procuring 200 AC buses soon, adding,

“The digitize system is being implemented at depots of the BRTC for ensuring transparency.”

He also said recruitment process of different positions along with drivers is underway as part of the government’s various initiatives to revive loss of the BRTC.

“Maintaining a goal for ‘providing service’ the BRTC is giving service with faire price.”
