Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has killed four Bangladeshi nationals in the country’s three bordering districts during the last two days till Saturday morning.
Two cattle traders were gunned down in the country’s northern bordering district Dinajpur, a man was shot dead in another northern district Kurigram while another cattle trader was suspected to be strangulated to death by the BSF troops in the southwestern Meherpur district.
In Dinajpur, the BSF troops from Gobindapur camp shot at some Bangladeshi cattle traders at Daudpur frontier in Birampur upazila (sub-district) when they went near the zero line early Saturday to bring cattle from India, leaving two of them dead on the sport.
In Kurigram, the Indian border guards from Narayanganj BOP (border observation post) camp of Cooch Behar district opened fires on a Bangladeshi when he went there Saturday morning to respond to nature's call, according to reports.
In Gangni upazila (sub-district) of Meherpur, a cattle trader was picked up and believed to be chocked to death Friday evening when he went near the Shewratala frontier line to bring cattle from Indian side.
High officials of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) sent letters to their Indian counterparts protesting the killings.
The killings took place amid the Indian authorities repeated assurance to Bangladesh to show restraint and stop border killings.
Visiting Dhaka on July 30, Indian Home Minister P Chidambaram said India had ordered BSF not to shoot anyone crossing Indo-Bangla border, no matter whatever the circumstances were.
