Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Edexcel in collaboration with British Council organized-BTEC Education UK Fair 2011 began at the British Council in the capital Dhaka on Saturday.

Rashed Khan Menon, MP, Chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee for Education inaugurated the two-day long fair.

Rober Gibson, British High Commissioner to Bangladesh, Isabel Sutcliff, Director, Edexcel UK, Rosemary Arnott, Director, British Council Bangladesh, Saidur Rahman Country Manager, Edexcel and Shahin Reza, Regional Manager, Edexcel were present, among others on the occasion.

Apart from 16 local partner centers, British Council and UK universities are participating in the Fair showcasing their qualifications and services to the Bangladeshi students. The international universities are also highlighting the progression opportunities after BTECs.

Currently, Edexcel has 16 approved centers in Bangladesh offering Eclexcel’s BTEC qualifications in different subject areas such as Business, IT, Hospitality, Travel and Tourism, Law, Accounting, Art and Design, Fashion and Textile, Apparel Merchandising, Aerospace Engineering; Marine Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering at National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) level.

As per the Qualifications and Credit Framework (QCF) in the UK, NDs are considered equivalent to 3 A levels while HNDs are broadly considered equivalent to the second year of undergraduate program.
