BTRC serves notice on GP, Banglalink on 10-second pulse

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - The Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) has served show cause notices to two large mobile operators for non-compliance of its directive regarding introduction of 10 second pulse by September 15.
Out of six mobile operators, Grameenphone (GP) and Banglalink which did not abide by the directive were asked to explain about it by September 30. 
The BTRC also asked the operators to return the extra money that they had earned from their subscribers from September 15 till now.
Even the commission asked both operators to apologies by giving advertisement in media by September 27 to their customers for collection of extra money, the notice added.
The BTRC earlier extended one month time for implementing the decision from August 15 to September 15 in response to the operators` applications, but only Teletalk implemented the decision during first notice followed by three operators, Robi, Airtel and Citycell.
Currently, the six operators have over 95 million subscribers. Of them, GP and Banglalink have 65 million users.
