Rangoon, Burma (BBN) - Burmese UMH Garment Industries has for the first time set up a garment factory recently in Kayin state based Hpa-an township’s industrial zone aiming to ease pressure on Rangoon’s industrial zones.
UMH already has two factories in Rangoon: UMH-1 in Shwe Pyi Thar township in the Rangoon region and UMH-2 in Pyinma Pin Industrial Zone in Rangoon region. UMH-3 will be the first in Hpa-an.
It will employ 150 workers, who have been undergoing training at the Myanmar Maternal and Child Welfare Association building in the township since February, the entrepreneurs said.
Located at a distance of about seven miles outside Hpa-an, the Hpa-an Industrial Zone is quite close to the Myawaddy-Mae Sot border trading area with Thailand, which reopened recently.
