Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The inter-bank call money rate remained unchanged at maximum 20 percent on Monday as withdrawal of cash from banks gathered pace ahead of the Eid-ul-Fitr festival, a central banker told BBN at 12:02 pm on the day.

He also said the call rate ranged between 12.00 per cent and 20.00 per cent in early treading session on the day.

On Thursday, the call rate ranged between 15.00 percent and 20.00 percent.

Most branches of the banks, especially at Motijheel, Dilkusha and other commercial hubs of the capital, witnessed long queues of people to withdraw money before the Eid festival.

Talking to the BBN, a private banker said the short-term borrowings normally increase before the Eid to meet the growing demand for cash from the banks.
