Canadian trade exhibition in Bangladesh’s capital Sunday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- A day-long 'Canada Showcase 2011', the first ever solo Canadian trade exhibition in the country, will be held on Sunday at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC) in the capital Dhaka.

Commerce Minister Muhammad Faruk Khan will formally inaugurate the program as the chief guest. The event will remain open for public from 10:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Canada- Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CanCham) and the Canadian High Commission are jointly organizing the program.

The showcase will include exhibition booths, presentations on the Canadian trade sector and a seminar on education in Canada.

Besides, there will be a seminar on "Doing Business with Canada". Dr SA Samad, executive chairman, Board of Investment of Bangladesh (BoI), will be the chief guest at the seminar.

"The value of two-way merchandise trade has increased more than double from US $ 600 million in 2004 to US $ 1.4 billion in 2009. Canadian merchandise exports to Bangladesh increased more than five-fold , while Bangladesh became the second largest exporter to Canada from South Asia, following only India", Robert McDougall, High Commissioner of Canada in Bangladesh, said.
