Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The second Canadian trade exhibition will start in the capital Dhaka on March 4 aiming to strengthen bilateral trade relations between Bangladesh and Canada.
The two-day Canada Showcase 2012 is also the sequel of celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations and bilateral ties between the two countries, organizers said.
CanCham Bangladesh and Canadian High Commission in Dhaka will jointly organize the event at a city hotel.
A total of 31 companies from ICT, agriculture, renewable energy sectors from Canada and textile, leather, jute, ceramics, shoes, furniture sectors from Bangladesh will display their products and service in the exhibition.
“The exhibition will bring a new dimension in our already established strong trade relationship between the two countries,” Canadian High Commissioner in Bangladesh Heather Cruden said at a press conference held in Dhaka on Wednesday.
The value of two-way merchandise trade more than doubled from $624 million in 2006 to $1.63 billion in 2011, she said adding Canadian merchandise exports to Bangladesh in 2011were $555million while its imports went up to $1.07 billion last year.
