Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The central bank of Bangladesh on Monday introduced a dress code for the officials and employees of private commercial banks (PCB) for the first time aiming to save electricity in the country.
"We issued a circular in this connection on the day in line with the finance ministry's advice," a senior official of Bangladesh Bank (BB) told BBN in Dhaka.
The government earlier amended the dress code allowing the government officials and employees to discard formal suits and ties as part of a renewed campaign to save power.
"All male officials and employees in the PCBs will wear pants and shirts (both half and full sleeves) in offices as is the practice in other government offices during the March-November period," the BB said in a circular, issued on Monday.
Now the PCB officials and employees can come to offices in plain dresses, if there is no formal compulsion of wearing suits and ties, the BB officials added.
