Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman said the central bank is monitoring the implementation status of refinancing scheme by scheduled banks so that women entrepreneurs can avail themselves of the opportunity to get maximum benefit from it.

The comment came at a meeting with a delegation of Bangladesh Women Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BWCCI) in the city on Tuesday, a press statement said.

An 8-member BWCCI delegation led by its president held talks with the governor.

He also said BWCCI and other relevant stakeholders should come forward to help Bangladesh Bank to ensure effective implementation of this scheme and establishment of Women Entrepreneur Dedicated Desk.

The governor suggested the SME bank officials of the central bank take initiative for cluster development for women entrepreneurs.

BWCCI President Selima Ahmad said the circular issued by Bangladesh Bank regarding the refinancing scheme has been proved helpful for women entrepreneurs but the circular is not being followed by some banks at rural areas and many branches still do not have Women Entrepreneur Dedicated Desk.
