Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The Bangladesh Bank (BB) will release new metal coin of BDT five denomination with portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on June 7.
The coin will be available at the BB’s Motijheel office from June 7. It will also be available from other offices of BB and all commercial banks soon, a BB press statement said.
The coin is made of AISI-430 stainless steel weighing 6.50 gram. The coin in the shape of a dodecagon bears the portrait of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibir Rahman on one side and monogram of Bangladesh Bank on the other side.
The existing Taka five-coin will also remain in circulation as usual along with the new coin, it added.
