Central bank reports prices of four essentials rise in February

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Prices of four essential commodities, out of 25, increased in local market in February compared to the previous month, while prices of nine items declined, and the rest remained unchanged.
“We’ve prepared the report on the basis of data, collected from different markets in the city, to know the real market prices of the essential items,” a senior official of the Bangladesh Bank (BB) told BBN in Dhaka. 
Soybean oil price increased the maximum by 5.77 percent in February, followed by powdered milk 5.32 percent, sugar 5.26 percent, and mustard oil 3.85 percent, a the central bank report revealed on Tuesday. 
On the other hand, garlic price decreased by 65.00 percent, onion 31.43 percent, potato 20.00 percent, egg 8.70 percent, fish (ruhi) 8.00 percent, wheat 6.67 percent, pulses (moog dal) 5.30 percent, rice (coarse) 2.70 percent, and rice (medium) 2.17 percent.
However, the prices of beef, chicken, atta (white), pulses (masur dal), turmeric, chilly (dry), ginger, cow milk, tea, banana, salt and molasses remained unchanged during the period under the review.
