Last updated: June 7, 2012
Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Citycell, the country’s lone CDMA-based mobile operator, has introduced a new product- MY-Fi pocket router- to the market, enabling the users to browse high-speed internet from maximum five devices simultaneously.
The pocket-sized wireless router is actually a portable Wi-Fi device. It can be used anywhere and anytime across the country as Citycell has nationwide network coverage.
MY-Fi enables the users to create own Wi-Fi zone of 30 meter indoor and 50 meter outdoor, and simultaneously connect up to five Wi-Fi enabled devices- to be CDMA or GSM- such as i-phone, i-pad, tab and laptop.
The router weighing 80g can be kept inside pocket or bag during its usage. It can also be used as a modem.
The basic difference between Citycell's modem 'Zoom Ultra' and its new product 'Mi-Fi' is that only one person can use modem at a time while the router can connect separate five devices with internet simultaneously.
MY-Fi device is now available in the market at BDT 8000. The users can also buy the router with pre or post-paid connections. The mobile phone operator offers some monthly packages for using the router.
Other salient features of 'MY-Fi' include: its rechargeable battery can serve up to 4.0 hours working time and 100 hours standby time; there is no need of continuous power supply; the users will be given a default password, which can be changed later, for security reason in using the router.
