CPB, BSD call strike for December 18

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) and Bangladesh Shamajtantrik Dal (BSD) on Friday called countrywide daylong general strike for December 18 to press home their various demands including ban on Jamaat-Shibir politics.
 
Their other demands include canceling the decision of increasing electricity and fuel prices and stopping the killings on the borders.
 
The two left-leaning parties declared the strike, generally known as hartal, jointly from a press conference at BSD central office at Paltan in the capital Dhaka.
 
CPB President Mujahidul Islam Selim and BSD Convener Khalekuzzaman were present at the press conference
 
They also demanded immediate arrest and punishment of those responsible for the fire incident at Tazreen Fashions in Ashulia, including its owner, and also ensuring security of the country’s apparel workers.
