Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Li Changchun, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, arrived in the capital Dhaka on Saturday at the ruling Awami League's invitation.
The top ranking Chinese leader, leading an eight-member high-powered CPC delegation, joined a dinner at a hotel where senior leaders of Awami League (AL), BNP, Jatiya Party and other political parties were present.
AL Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif said the visit, considered one of the most important ones, focuses on strengthening China's relations with Bangladesh and AL.
During the visit, Dhaka and Beijing will strike an agreement on economic and technical cooperation and a Memorandum of Understanding on strengthening the power sector.
The delegation members are CPC Central Committee International Department Minister Wang Jiarui; Education Minister Yuan Guiren; Culture Minister Cai Wu; Radio, Film and Television State Administration Minister Cai Fuchao; Press and Publication General Administration Minister Liu Binjie; CPC Central Committee Publicity Department Vice Minister Sun Zhijun; and Commerce Vice Minister Jiang Zengwei.
