Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- At least four people, including three children, were killed when a gas cylinder of a CNG-run microbus exploded on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway in the country’s central Munshiganj district on Saturday, police said.

The accident occurred around 1:30pm (local time) near Sher Ali Petrol Pump at Baluakandi in Gazaria upazila under the district.

Additional Police Super of Munshiganj Saiful Islam said the cylinder of the microbus exploded with a big bang after hitting a road divider on the highway when it was taking a U-turn after re-fuelling gas from the pump, according to The Daily Star, a local newspaper, reports.

The explosion ignited a fire in the microbus instantly. Four more people who were also on the microbus escaped the fire jumping out of it, the newspaper reported.
