Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has expressed deep concern over the arrest of Abdul Awal Mintoo, former president of the FBCCI and one of the leading businessmen in the country.
“The DCCI thinks that Abdul Awal Mintoo is a renowned and reputed business leader in the country. He has contributed a lot to our economy and he has been trying to solve the prevailing political crisis in the country,” it said in a statement on Saturday.
The DCCI also thinks that such incident is unexpected and it may arise fear among the business community both home and abroad.
However, being the largest trade body, the DCCI calls upon all including all political parties to come forward to resolve ongoing political crisis through discussion.
On Friday night, plainclothes police detained Abdul Awal Mintoo, also BNP Chairperson’s adviser, in front of her Gulshan residence.
