Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– The Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI) has urged Pakistan to invest in Bangladesh.
DCCI President Asif Ibrahim made the request while Pakistan high commissioner to Bangladesh Afrasiab met with him at DCCI in the capital Dhaka on Saturday, a DCCI statement said.
The DCCI chief also urged Pakistani businessmen to invest in prospective sectors such as textile, agro-processing and shipbuilding. 
He assured Pakistani investors of all co- operations from DCCI side. 
Afrasiab said that Bangladesh and Pakistan are two brotherly Muslim countries and have commonalities in terms of culture, religion, food and businesses. 
The ambassador also invited Bangladeshi investors to invest in Pakistan especially in the knit textile, pharmaceuticals and leather sectors. 
The DCCI president underscored the need for higher volume of trade between Bangladesh and Pakistan as the present volume of bilateral trade between the two countries is far from satisfactory level. 
He also urged the high commissioner to initiate actions to re-introduce Karachi-Chittagong shipping service for augmenting trade between the two countries. 
DCCI Senior Vice President Haider Ahmed Khan, Directors Khairul Majid Mahmud, Manjurul Hoque, Osama Taseer, Mohd. Iftekharuddin (Naushad), K. G. Karim, Abu Horaira, Shahidul Islam, Hossain A. Sikder, Secretary Mustafa Mohiuddin and Trade Promotion Officer of Pakistan High Commission Akmal were also present at the meeting.
