Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The government has signed a BDT 2.04 billion deal with a local construction firm to build 17 small bridges in three districts of the country.
Under the agreement, the bridges will be constructed in Khishoreganj, Tangail and Munshiganj, officials said.
Roads and Highways Department signed the agreement with construction company Mir Akhter Hossain Limited at Sarak Bhaban in the capital Dhaka on Monday in presence of Communications Minister Obaidul Quader.
Chief Engineer of the Roads and Highways Department Aminur Rahman Laskar and Mir Nasir Hossain, managing director of the construction firm, signed the agreement on behalf of their respective sides.
The contact was signed under “Eastern Bangladesh Bridge Improvement Project”.
The government has taken up the project at a cost of BDT 6.90 billion with the financial supports of the JICA under which 117 bridges would be constructed.
