Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - State-run Ashuganj Power Station Company Limited (APSCL) has singed a deal with a consortium of Swedish and Spanish firm to set up a 382 megawatt (mw) gas-fired combined cycle power plant on turnkey basis.
The consortium of Inelectra International AB of Sweden and TSK Electronicay electricidad SA of Spain signed the deal with the APSCL to build the plant within the next 27 months at a cost of US$ 315 million.
APSCL Managing Director Nurul Alam, Deputy Managing Director of TSK Alfonso Targhetta Codes and Inelectra International's Country Manager of Spain Jose Antonio Antelo Souto signed the contract on behalf of their respective sides on Thursday.
Under the deal, the plant’s gross production capacity will be 382.30 MW while the net output will be 373.312 MW. The plant will run at 56.81 percent efficiency using the natural gas of 48.80 million cubic feet per day.
The HSBC ’s Hong Kong branch will finance the project as coordinating arranger of fund under the ECA (export credit agency) facilities while the HERMES of Germany, ONDD of Belgium, CESCE of Spain will provide the ECA facilities to implement the project.
Finance Ministry AMA Muhith, who was present at the contract signing function at Bidduyt Bhaban in Dhaka, said Ashuganj power station is the country’s second largest power station which will add 1100 MW electricity to the national grid in next three years.
