New Delhi, India (BBN) - The death toll from a string of coordinated bomb attacks in the country’s western city Ahmedabad at the weekend has risen to 49, police said on Monday.
The toll had stood at 45 according to the Press Trust of India (PTI) reports, prior to the new figure being announced late Sunday. More than 160 other people were injured in the blasts.
A series of at least 16 bombings hit the religiously tense city on Saturday evening, with two of the explosions targeting emergency hospitals trying to deal with the first victims.
