Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The depreciating mode of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against the US dollar continued following higher demand for the greenback in the inter-bank foreign exchange market on Wednesday.
The exchange rate of the BDT against the US dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.64 at the evening transactions.
In the opening trading, the exchange rate of the local currency was also quoted at maximum BDT 80.64, gaining two paisa more from the previous working level.
On Tuesday, the American dollar was quoted at maximum BDT 80.64.
“Local currency against US dollar depreciated slightly due to higher demand for the greenback in the inter-bank forex market,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank explained to the BBN Wednesday evening.
From the July 4 to 10, the local currency was quoted at maximum BDT 80.60.
Bangladesh foreign exchange market remained closed on Friday and Saturday as those were weekend in the country.
