Depreciating mood of BDT continues

Last updated: November 30, 2016

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)-The depreciating mood of Bangladesh Taka (BDT) against US dollar continued in inter-bank foreign exchange (forex) market during evening trading on Wednesday.
The US dollar was BDT 78.75 in the evening market unchanged from the opening.
The US currency was 78.71-78.72 on previous day.
“The depreciating mood of the BDT persisted throughout the day due to settlement of import payment obligations particularly for petroleum products, capital machinery and fertilizer,” a senior treasury official of a leading private commercial bank (PCB) told the BBN in Dhaka.
The Bangladesh Taka (BDT) depreciated by maximum three paisa against the US dollar in early hour transactions.
However, the local currency deprecated by around six paisa against the US dollar at customer level on Tuesday on the same ground, the treasury official added.
The exchange rate of the US dollar at customer level rose to BDT 79.5212 on Tuesday from 79.4615 on Monday. It was BDT 79.3740 on Sunday.
