Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) – The depression over east central Bay and adjoining northeast Bay remained stationary and intensified into a deep depression over the same area.

It was centered at 12 noon on Thursday about 535 kilometers (kms) south of Chittagong Port, 450 kms south of Cox’s Bazar Port and 560 kms of South-Southeast of Mongla port.

It is likely to intensify into a deep depression and move in a northerly direction, a Bangladesh Metrological Department special bulletin said.

Under its influence, squally weather may affect the maritime ports and the coastal regions of Chittagong and Cox’s Bazar districts.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 48 kms of the depression centre is about 50 kph rising to 60 kph in gust or squalls. Sea will remain rough.

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three three.

All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice.
