Dhaka stocks bounce back

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)- Dhaka stocks bounced back on Tuesday with moderate gain after showing a fluctuating trend in the first hour of trading, market operators said. 
The benchmark Dhaka Stock General Exchange Index (DGEN) gained 160.53 points or 2.56 percent to close at 6423.22 points on the day. The key index lost 293.82 points or 4.48 percent of the previous working day.
The broader All Shares Price Index (DSI) gained 130.84 points or 2.51 per cent to close at 5331.68 points. The DSE-20 index comprising blue-chip shares also gained 86.06 points or 2.22 percent to close at 3960.83 points. 
Out of 252 issues traded, 230 were positive, 19 lost and three remain unchanged, the DSE data showed.
All the sectors gained across the board: banks (1.66 percent), non-banking financial institutions (2.51 percent), telecommunication (1.44 percent) and power (2.61 percent).
Insurance companies also witnessed a healthy growth on the day. Of the 44 listed insurance companies, only shares of three companies suffered loss while shares of Mercantile Insurance Company Limited were not traded. 
Total turnover value stood at BDT 7.9 billion, 35.3 percent lower than Monday’s turnover value. Beximco Limited topped the turnover chart with turnover value of BDT 367.3 million.
