Dhaka stocks bounce back Thursday

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks ended the year’s last session on positive note on Thursday amid volatility with increasing turnover value as traders were active in trading activities.
 
The market rose steeply gaining more than 40 points within first five minutes. The uptrend continued until the market closure amid moderate ups and down and finally ended 36.94 points higher.
 
The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange, generally known as DGEN, the yardstick of the market advanced 36.94 points or 0.70 per cent to close at 5,257.60.
 
Out of 268 issues traded, 197 advanced, 52 declined and 19 remained unchanged.
 
Turnover value again crossed the BDT 5.0 billion mark and stood at BDT 5.60 billion against BDT 5.26 billion in the previous session.
 
MI Cement was the day’s top turnover leader with shares worth BDT 135.12 million changing hands.
 
Renwick Jajneswar continued the highest gainer for the second session posting a rise of 9.95 per cent following its up gradation in ‘A’ category from ‘Z’ category.
 
Reliance One was the day’s worst loser and lost 5.60 per cent.
