Dhaka stocks close flat as institutional investors remain inactive

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks closed flat on Thursday, the last working before week long Eid vacation amid extreme volatile trading throughout the session with turnover hitting almost three-year low as institutional investors remained inactive.

The benchmark General Index of Dhaka Stock Exchange (DGEN), the key index of the DSE, shed only 0.44 points or .008 per cent to close at 5,208.96 on Thursday.

However, the broader DSE All Shares Price Index (DSI) advanced 2.63 points or 0.06 per cent to close at 4,354.73. The DSE-20 blue-chip index also went up by 5.62 points or 0.14 per cent to close at 3,871.75.

The day's turnover value came down to BDT 1.81 billion, down by 35.7 percent compared to BDT 2.82 billion in the previous session.

Thursday's turnover value was nearly three years low since December 17, 2008. On that day the turnover value was BDT 1.09 billion, the DSE data showed.
