Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN)– Dhaka stocks rallied for the second straight session on Tuesday, led by banks, non-banking financial institutions and insurance issues.

Besides, most of the mutual funds, pharmaceuticals, cement, fuel and power, service and real state, food and allied and tannery sectors performed well while engineering, IT, textile and ceramic sectors fell, market operators said.

The benchmark index DSE General Index (DGEN) rose 30.32 points to close at 2557.09. All Shares Price Index (DSI) and DSE 20 Index (DS20) comprising blue chip gained 23.21 points and 44.29 points to close at 2128.15 and 1962.29 respectively.

The gainers took a strong lead over the losers as out of 245 issues traded, 162 gained, 73 declined and 10 remained unchanged.

Turnover, however, suffered to stand at BDT 4.78 billion, down from previous day’s BDT 5.60 billion.
