Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks continued to rise for the fourth straight session on Thursday with turnover rise substantially as participation of investors’ increased anticipating further rise in coming days.
The market opened with appositive note, more than 40 points within 10 minutes. The upbeat mood continued till the market closure amid moderate ups and down and finally ended 68 points higher.
The benchmark general index of Dhaka Stock Exchange--DGEN rose 68.49 points or 1.32 percent to close at 5,232.38 on the day.
In the last four consecutive sessions, the general index of the DSE gained 4.64 percent or 236.02 points.
Total turnover value increased to BDT 5.02 billion against BDT 4.15 billion in the previous session and it was also one month high turnover since November 24.
Out of 263 issues traded, 197 advanced, 55 declined and 11 remained unchanged.
United Airways topped the turnover chart with shares worth BDT 187.09 million changing hands.
Mithun Knitting was the top gainer posting 9.98 percent rise while Rahim Textile was the worst loser and lost 7.62 percent on the day.
