Dhaka stocks continue to rise for seventh day

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN) - Dhaka stocks continued its upward trend for the seventh consecutive trading sessions riding on major sectors including banking, financial institutions, mutual funds and telecommunications, market operators said. 
The benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN) gained 48.82 points or 0.75 percent to close at 6,562.92 points on the day. DSI and DSE-20 rose by 0.76 percent or 41.09 points and 0.32 percent or 13.76 points respectively. 
Total turnover value also stood at BDT 14.80 billion, 4.30 percent higher than the trade volume of previous day. 
The banking sector went up by 1.05 percent at the end of the session. Non-banking financial institutions rose 0.51 percent and the contribution by Grameenphone helped telecommunications to gain 3.05 percent.
Mutual funds were major gainers riding on the expectation of dividend declarations.
