Dhaka stocks edge higher

Dhaka, Bangladesh (BBN): Dhaka stocks edged marginally higher on Thursday, the last session of the week after two session fall with turnover still low level.

The benchmark general index of the Dhaka Stock Exchange ended at 4,160.87 points, gaining 21.79 points or.52 per cent.

Turnover value stood at BDT 1.64 billion against previous session’s BDT 1.20 billion.

Out of 266 shares and mutual fund units were traded, among them 161 advanced, 70 declined and 35 remained unchanged.

United Airways topped the day’s turnover chart for the second straight session with shares worth BDT 114.25 million changing hands.

A total of 0.056 million trades were executed with 66.30 million trading volumes.

Mutual Fund sector dominated the day’s top gainer list where all the top ten gainers came from the sector.

Popular Life First Mutual Fund was the day’s highest gainer posting 9.85 per cent while Savar Refractories was the worst losers, plunging by 6.46 per cent.

Earlier, on Tuesday and Wednesday, DGEN lost 79 points with sixth month low turnover value.
